Connecting to Become

I recently received a lovely gift of a deck of cards called Art and Wisdom Cards which I absolutely love! These cards are used as a focus for meditation and prayer. This was the picture I chose the other day:

The title of this card is Become - "to recognize the miracles of being and unfolding. To honour and nurture what is developing in ourselves and others." (Weidner, S., 2019)

In conversations with several people this week, I became aware of how we become who we are in connection with others, how important having a solid community of our own personal cheerleaders is, how we can't become to our full potential in isolation. We need each other!!!

Connecting with others helps us "to unfold or become" who we are meant to be.

Connection with others helps us "to honour and nurture this unfolding" in others.

Connection honours our struggles to become and says, "It's ok. You are beautiful and precious just as you are."

Connection says it's ok to feel confused, lost, to feel failure.

Connection helps us to get up, move forward, and take the next step.

Connection, the support of a loving community, offers a smile, offers to listen, and says "how can we help?"

Today I pray for those without this connection: those who are lonely and isolated, those who struggle to find the support of those who would honour and love them where they are. There are so many in our communities: our seniors who have lost their life partners; our 2SLGBTQ+ community who often live in fear and isolation; those without jobs who have lost a workplace community; our homeless population, often ignored and treated as less; our caregivers and the sick who often feel alone in their journey. 

Let's make it our mission today to connect to at least one of these in our community, to listen, to smile, to honour their being, to say "how can I help you today?"
